Biography
André Manuel Rodrigues Lopes is a Portuguese Tenor. He was born in 1994, in Braga, Portugal.
He began his musical studies in 2012 at the school of music Palco de Estrelas. In September of 2016, he began his classical voice studies at the Conservatory of Music Calouste Gulbenkian, in Braga (CMCGB), in the Inês Sofia’s class.
In 2017, he had the opportunity to play a role, as a soloist, in the musical "Dreamland", based on Miss Saigon. In 2018 he participated, as soloist, in the musical "(Un)Fairplay", based on West Side Story. In 2019 was a soloist in the musical “reSTAGE”, based on Babes in Arms.
In 2018 was congratulated with the 2nd prize, in Category B, of the National Singing Contest of the Official Conservatories of Music, in Portugal. In the same year, he was invited to sing the tenor solo part in Mozart's Requiem K626 - Robert Levin Edition, with Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas in Castelo Branco, Portugal.
In 2019 won the 1st prize in the National Singing Contest of the Official Conservatoires of Music in Portugal (Category A) and performed with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Braga’s Conservatory as a soloist in the biggest hall of that city, the Theatro Circo.
In the same year, was admitted at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam for his Bachelor where he Studies with Pierre Mak.
In 2021 was part of the cast of “Dialogues des Carmélites” by F. Poulenc as a cover of the role L’Aumônier and played Don Curzio in the “Le nozze di Figaro” by W.A. Mozart. In December 2021 sung in the Score Collective, project where he performed with chamber music 3 Lieder by F. Schubert with arranging of Bernard Cavanna and participated in the Philharmonic Fridays concert at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam having the opportunity to sing with orchestra under the guidance of Ed Spanjaard.
In 2022, he had the opportunity to sing the role of Mr. Owen in “Postcard from Morocco” by Dominik Argento, an opera production of the Dutch National Opera Academy; and to sing the tenor solo in the Mozart’s Requiem in D minor with the Studenten Koor Amsterdam in the Dominicuskerk in Amsterdam.
He had the opportunity to work with professional singers/teachers, such as, Liliane Bizineche, Enza Ferrari, Elisabete Matos, Dora Rodrigues, Don Marrazzo, Ira Siff, Bejun Mehta and Mario Hoff.
